The examination syllabus of CLAT covers all the sections of English, GK, Current Affairs, Mathematics, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning. The GK & Current Affairs sections include 50 marks each, whereas English section including comprehension, logical reasoning consists of 40 marks each. The mathematics section will have 20 marks. - English Vocabulary– This section consists of synonyms, antonyms, analogies.
- English Proficiency– This section consists of idioms & Phrases, fill in the blanks, one word substitution, cloze tests, sentence improvement, rearrangement of sentences in paragraph, jumbled sentences.
- English Usage errors– This section will have questions from spot the error & correct the sentences, spelling mistakes, use the correct word.
- English Comprehension– This section consists of paragraph is given. Questions are asked from that paragraph. The applicants need to understand what the paragraph says & answer questions accordingly
GK & Current Affairs (50 marks)
The applicants are advised to follow books such as Manorama Yearbook & Pratiyogita Darpan to do well in GK section. The main focus should be on static GK and on latest happenings as well. The applicants should go through the news papers every day and should know the important news of at least previous year.
The applicants also should know the important events of national as well as across the globe. Also stay updated with the happenings related to Science, Technology, Legal Affairs, Sports, People & Places.
Elementary Mathematics (20 marks)
The applicants who are quite thorough with the fundamentals of mathematics will have good scope in this section. They need to cover these topics for score well in the mathematics section.

Legal Aptitude (50 marks)
This section will check the applicants’ ability about “how the legal propositions work”. Previous year this section was as follows- This section had covered 50 questions and each question consisting of legal propositions/principles add facts. These principles have to be applied to the given facts to reach at the most reasonable conclusion. These principles may or may not be true in real sense, however the applicants have to conclusively assume them to be true for the purpose of this section. In answering the questions of this section, you must not rely on any principle except the principles that are given herein below for every question. Further, the applicants must not assume the facts other than the one which is mentioned in the question. The main purpose of this section is to check the applicants understanding towards law, research aptitude & problem solving ability even if the outcome may be unacceptable for any reason.
Logical reasoning (40 marks)
The questions for this section will be asked from logical links, identify patterns, rectify illogical arguments. This section will test the applicant’s ability to solve a wide variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies. CLAT LLB
